Rain Water, Invaluable Renewable Resource

Nov 30, -0001

The effects of climate change have never been more visible than this year, with droughts crippling parts of the globe, especially Europe. On the other hand, the rain has lashed away at other parts of the globe wreaking havoc in its wake.  Rain is equally an invaluable asset and a destructive force!

Our company has come up with a novel solution to balance this difficult resource and turn it to our advantage through rain water harvesting and proper channelling of rain away from our site.

Artificial Pond Holding More Water Than 3 Olympic Swimming Pools!

The site of AKF Plant Sciences were built after a ground survey mapping the natural flow of rain. An in-house solution was engineered to wick water away from the top of the sloped polyhouses, and through small canals. These canals then feed into a giant reservoir covering 4050 sq meters. The company estimates it allows them to save 66,00,000 litres of water per year.

Engineering Marvel

Conceptualised, designed and built completely by AKF, the reservoir allows the company to save precious ground water, reduce the energy consumption to pump it and also recharge underground aquifers. On the other hand, it also reduces the risk of flooding and water logging at the site, as well as surrounding fields.

High Quality Water for High Quality Tissue Culture Plants

Nishant Chauhan, Managing Director of AKF Plant Sciences says that the system, built at a great cost is more than worth the initial investment. “Rainwater being 'soft water' allows us to control and optimise the nutrient delivery to our plants” says Nishant.

AKF Plant Sciences is committed to supplying the finest quality of tissue culture plants grown sustainably. We produce a variety of ornamental, fruit and forestry plants. Get in touch with us for your plant needs as well as custom projects.
